What will you do as a Front End UI/UX Developer (Future Opportunity)?

We are looking for a Front End UI/UX Developer who is an expert in front-end development and UX design for web and desktop applications to join our growing company. You will design and create a unified front-end for a suite of interfaces, including manufacturing workstation tools, management web applications, and complex data visualizations. You will also develop framework components, building out the software backbone that drives manufacturing. You will be developing in Typescript/React on our web platform, and C#/WPF on the desktop.

Working within the R&D department, you will report to the Team Lead of one of our Software teams.

  • Create user interface and underlying framework components according to specifications using Typescript/React and C#/WPF.
  • Create test plan outlines with prioritized test cases for verifying software against its specification.
  • Provide time estimates for assigned work, and report progress via JIRA.
  • Conduct research and iterative design refinement based on user needs and habits.
  • Create software specifications (focusing on user interfaces) according to project goals and user needs.
  • Create and maintain digital assets, such as user interface graphics, interface design files, wireframes, and interactive mockups.
  • Create training materials and conduct in-person user training.
  • Receive tickets with an objective such as "create a visualization of manufacturing timeline in the desktop client and web application".
  • Elicit requirements from stakeholders including end users to create a specification for the interface and underlying code.
  • Create a test plan from your specification.
  • Work with team members to determine if framework changes are required to support the changes.
  • Implement the changes, test them, and submit your code as one or more pull requests.
  • Work with the software tester and reviewers to implement any changes necessary to pass tests and review.
  • Train staff on how to use the new features.
  • Deploy your software into the change-managed manufacturing environment.
  • Monitor the deployment and solicit user feedback.

What do you need to be successful?

  • 3+ years' experience as a UI/UX developer.
  • A portfolio or professional history that demonstrates proficiency in UI/UX design
  • Expert knowledge of front-end web development with Javascript (Typescript preferred)
  • Experience with desktop UI development (WPF preferred, WInForms, GTK, Electron, or similar)
  • Knowledge of CSS, HTML5 and its best practices.
  • Proficiency in development in C#, Java, C++ or C
  • Experience with software development lifecycle tools such as a ticket system (e.g. JIRA, trac), a repository manager (e.g. Bitbucket, github), and an automated build system (e.g. Bamboo, Jenkins).
  • Proficiency in designing interfaces and building clickable prototypes using wireframe tools such as Sketch, InVision, Pencil, or similar.
  • Proficiency using Git version control.
  • Backend development experience, including REST APIs and SQL queries is nice to have.
