Applications are invited for the position of Associate Dean, School of Hospitality and Tourism, Culinary, Tourism and Beverage Division, located at the Daniel J. Patterson Campus.  The salary range is $115,032 to $153,374 for a 35-hour work week.  Additional hours may be required as necessary.  

Reporting to the Dean of Culinary, Tourism and Beverage Studies, the successful candidate works collaboratively with a high-performance divisional team to lead in the development, delivery and ongoing review of the full-time and part-time post-secondary programs and services in the department. The Associate Dean will ensure that the programs are effectively and efficiently delivered, meeting Ministry, CVS or PEQAB standards, and are relevant to the needs of college students. The School of Hospitality and Tourism offers a range of programs including Hospitality - Hotel and Restaurant Operations, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Tourism Management – Business Development, Esthetician, and our Honours Bachelor of Business Administration in Hospitality.  The programs are all offered in classroom, specialized labs, and sensory facilities. 

The Associate Dean is responsible for planning and implementing the academic delivery of School of Hospitality and Tourism courses and programs, in line with college budget and enrolment forecasts, while providing leadership in the development and renewal of curriculum, effective hiring and development of faculty, and management of workload assignments. The incumbent will supervise faculty and staff as they manage the delivery of courses and programs in the portfolio. This role requires a high degree of collaboration with the Dean, Associate Deans, faculty, and college stakeholders to ensure that courses and programs are delivered effectively and efficiently with a focus on quality and student success. Resolving academic integrity cases, dealing with student issues, attending community and college recruitment events, and participating on college-wide committees are also responsibilities of the Associate Dean.

Required Qualifications:  

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field of study
  • Minimum 9 years combined experience which includes academic leadership, management, and industry experience as well a minimum of 5 years of successful teaching at a post-secondary/adult level.
  • Experience with supervision of staff within a unionized environment
  • Experience working with diverse student populations.
  • Proven ability in moving ideas from conceptual to operational
  • Demonstrated experience in developing student-centered programs and supports.
  • Advanced leadership, team building, collaboration, and networking skills
  • Superior skills in communication, organization, problem solving/conflict resolution, and prioritizing within a multi-faceted role.

Preferred candidates may also possess: 

  • Academic planning, enrollment management and budget experience
  • Experience with program or curriculum design and development in a post-secondary/adult environment

This position requires primarily on-campus work.
