Reporting to the Director, Alumni Relations & Annual Giving, the Alumni Officer, Leadership & Annual Giving is responsible for developing alumni and donor programming which encourages the identification, cultivation, and solicitation of annual giving donations. This function also has responsibility for a portfolio of annual giving prospects and donors, as well as responsibility for scholarships and bursaries. 

The Alumni Officer, Leadership & Annual Giving helps foster a culture of philanthropy among OCAD University (OCAD U) graduates, staff, faculty, and friends and supports Development to build a major gift pipeline. This position has direct fundraising responsibilities including in-person solicitation of donors.

 

Summary of Responsibilities :

  • Work in collaboration with Faculties to develop opportunities to engage alumni in programming and fundraising efforts on behalf of OCAD University (OCAD U)
  • Assist with planning for donor and alumni leadership level engagement, utilizing prospect research, target analytics research, and existing data on prior giving behavior
  • Assist with allocating and monitoring the alumni and annual giving budget, goals and work plans, including the design and delivery of related KPI reports
  • Plan and manage integrated direct mail and digital campaigns that include print, web, and social media materials for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of existing and new leadership and annual donors
  • Demonstrate a high level of knowledge of the case for support for priority fundraising initiatives at OCAD U
  • Engage Board of Governors, faculty, staff, alumni and students in leadership and annual giving campaigns as appropriate
  • Develop written solicitation pieces, packages/letters and proposals as necessary
  • Cultivate, steward and upgrade existing annual donors for renewed gifts and solicit a pool of leadership-level donors (annual gifts of $1,000 – $4,999)
  • Operate scholarship and bursary activities in collaboration with the Student Financial Aid Office
  • Cultivate prospective donors and maintain contact history of donor interactions using the Raiser’s Edge database
  • Collaborate effectively with OCAD U faculty, administration, staff and development colleagues to maximize results
  • Respond to individual alumni and donors assuring that their needs are being met and processed immediately upon request
  • In collaboration with the Manager, Stewardship, work with the Coordinator, Advancement & Donor Services to implement annual giving campaigns
  • Support the Director, Alumni Relations & Annual Giving in related duties that contribute to the successful operation of the department

 

Qualifications :                      

  • Post secondary degree, or equivalent
  • A minimum of three (3) years of Annual Giving and/or experience in a fundraising organization
  • Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designation, or currently working towards completion of CFRE exam and requirements preferred
  • Experience working with internal and external constituents, as well as engagement with volunteers or other fundraising oriented committees
  • Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge or other fundraising related databases; proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work independently and participate collaboratively in a team environment
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, the ability to meet strict deadlines and work effectively under the pressure of high volume and competing priorities
  • Demonstrated commitment to the principles of equity and diversity, and experience promoting a respectful work and learning environment for students, staff and faculty
  • Occasional weekend and evening work required

 

Compensation:    OPSEU Unit I, Appendix B, GRADE B2; $62,427.46 to $82,046.47 per annum


Hours of Work:  Monday to Friday, for a total of 35 hours per week.
