The Office of Continuing Studies invites applications for the following anticipated course offering in the fall 2020 academic year.
Empathy + Social Insight for Human-Centred Design Micro-Certification
Offered Asynchronously Online, November 2, 2020 – December 11, 2020
In this micro-certification, participants will learn about why you need to develop an understanding of the people you are designing for, and how - through observation, empathy & social research - you will be able to define the problem or opportunity to focus on, identify and evaluate complex challenges and opportunities at the intersection of design, technology, and social theory.
1) Employ a basic design vocabulary of elements and principles as related to human-centred design.
2) Consider relevant ethnographic research methods to understand people and context for uncovering insights.
3) Identify and evaluate complex challenges and opportunities at the intersections of design, technology, and social theory.
The micro-certification is offered in collaboration with an industry partner. The instructor will consult with our partner in the curriculum design and delivery.
Responsibilities: Course outline development, preparation and delivery; participation in Instructor and program meetings
Terms of Employment: The contract is for the duration of the course only and is subject to sufficient enrolment.
