Phoenix Industrial is looking for Journeyman Pipefitters for their upcoming projects.
Responsibilities:
· Tests boilers, tanks, fittings, pipes, and similar objects to detect and locate leaks, using compressed air or water pressure
· Install, operate, observe and read pressure and temperature gauges and charts
· Read and understand Isometric drawings and P&IDs and have the ability to identify issues with ISO and package structure
· Document temperature and pressure readings; report irregular reading to management
· Installs fittings on object to seal outlets and connects object to high-pressure air or water line, using hand tools
· Activates air compressor or water pump until gauge registers specified internal pressure
· Observes gauge for loss of pressure indicative of leaks, and examines object for escaping air or water to detect leaks
· Marks object at source of leaks for subsequent repair
· May apply soap solution to surface of object or immerse object to facilitate location of air leaks
· May test object under high pressure to ensure compliance with product safety ratings
· May be designated according to type of test used as Hydrostatic Tester; Pneumatic Tester
· Provide guidance, direction and supervision to apprentices
· Contribute to tool box meetings
· Walks down the entire system being tested to verify no openings or possibilities of leak/release
· Is familiar with pump operation and mechanics and is able to troubleshoot issues to resolution
· Understands the risks associated with over pressuring systems and uses pressure safety devices in all circumstances
· Cares for precision measurement and safety equipment and tools to ensure safe precise operation
· Adheres to Phoenix Industrial and Client policies and procedures
· Conduct regular worksite inspections to monitor workmanship and safety compliance
· Managing and performing general house keeping and daily clean-up of work area
· Lead by example by demonstrating the importance of fostering a safety culture
