Journeyman Welder

Perform all duties that require B- Pressure and CWB welding, including: cutting, fitting and welding. Assist in any other material preparation duties as well as general fabrication and welding tasks. The welder is required to have knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repairs and maintenance, as well as, design techniques, tools and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints drawings and models.


· Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications

· Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment

· Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment

· Operate previously set up welding machines

· Monitor parts usage and report on any material issues

· Detect faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notify supervisors

· Prepare input for various management and log reports

· Review blueprints and specifications; ensure drawings and specifications will function as designed in environment intended for us

· Organize and keep work area and equipment clean and functional

· Participate in Phoenix Safety Program including accident investigations and worksite inspections

· Daily progress reporting

· Identification marking of welds

· Detailed and accurate reports and documentation

· Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology, compliance and repair techniques

· Hold valid and current welding tickets

· Review and thoroughly understand weld procedures

· Ensure welding parameters noted within respective weld procedures are being maintained

· Managing and performing general house keeping and daily clean-up of work area

· Management of welding consumables as per code and best practive

· Mentor apprentices and junior welders by sharing knowledge and safe work practices

· Act as a role model at all times through exemplary professional conduct

· Lead by example by demonstrating the importance of fostering a safety culture


· Valid provincial Journeyman or Red Seal Certification and CWB certificate

· Ability to inspect welds regularly

· Ability to clearly communicate and obtain information from all relevant sources

· Strong analytical and problem solving skills

· Must be CWB ticketed FCAW/SMAW flat and horizontal

· CSTS-09 ticket

· Relevant Industrial experience
