The Network Administrator position with Seaspan will report to centralized management at Washington Corporations in Missoula, Montana. The ability to travel to and from Canada and the US for business meetings will be required.
The Network Administrator works under the general supervision of the Director, Enterprise Infrastructure and has the accountability for supporting, maintaining and ensuring the smooth running of the network.
Any interruptions or down time can have significant financial cost to the company. The types of issues and requests handled by this position are range in scope and complexity, from simple issues for a single user to large-scale projects involving multiple users with organization-wide impact.
The individual in this role must demonstrate a strong technical aptitude, a strong customer service attitude, a keen desire to keep up with the changing technical environment, and the ability to reference information and research appropriate solutions within a short turnaround time.
In addition, this role must demonstrate creativity, flexibility and strong prioritization skills when handling daily workload and technical issues.
A successful candidate will bring their drive and passion for excellent customer service and continuous quality improvements. You will be involved in supporting end users through the following new technology initiatives.
Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 50 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver, V7P 2R2
Responsibilities and Technical Skills Required:
- Supporting and maintaining the Enterprise Network that supports the Users, Computers, Phones, Servers, Storage, and associated equipment.
- Diagnosing, testing and resolving any network problems in a timely and accurate fashion to ensure productivity.
- Ordering, installation, tracking of hardware and software assets.
- Ensuring optimal network performance.
- Assisting to develop and maintain system architectures, standards and procedures.
- Completing work in a timely and accurate fashion to ensure personal and company productivity.
- Investigate, analyze and resolve technical issues and actively pursue mechanisms for preventing, or automating the response to reoccurrences.
Position Requirements:
- Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in a corporate environment as a network administrator
- Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or equivalent preferred
- Current Networking Certificate required (CCNA, CCNP, CCDP,etc)
- Proficient knowledge of desktop operating systems, workstations, and basic server operating systems required
- In depth knowledge of network hardware, including switches, routers, firewalls, network appliances required
- In depth knowledge of Cisco network hardware, including switches, routers, firewalls, network appliances.
- Proficient with the following technologies:
- Centralized and Distributed Wireless Architectures (802.11a/b/g/n/ac, WPA, WEP, 802.1x)
- WAN technologies (GRE VPNs, DMVPN, OTV, PPTP, L2TP, IPSEC based VPNs, MPLS, PPP, HDLC, and DSL)
- Security technologies (Firewalls, ACLs, NAT, IDS/IPS, RADIUS, TACAS+, IAS, VPN, Cisco ACS and AAA technologies)
- Dynamic and Static Routing (EIGRP, OSPF, RIP/RIPv2, BGP)
- Switching (VLANs, LACP, Etherchannel, LAGP, 802.3ad, VTP, 802.1q)
- Redundancy and Load Balancing FHRP Protocols (HSRP, VRRP, GLBP – F5 & Kemp Architecture)
- Unified Communications and videoconferencing (Shoretel VoIP, Skype for Business, IP Telephony, Cisco Telepresence, Polycom, RTP, SIP and H.323.)
- Network Monitoring and Analysis (SolarWinds, Riverbed, WMI, SNMP, Netflow, and Packet Capture)
- Demonstrated ability to positively transact with multiple customers including having the skills to: present oneself in a professional manner, listen to customer concerns, propose solutions to the customers, make specific promises for all deliverables and projects, and manage (with the customer) execution and performance to promises.
- Applicant must be able to work in a team environment with supervisors, peers, and subordinates.
