About the Role

The Director, Strategy and Operations will work closely with the Executive Director of SFU Climate Innovation to co-develop a strategic vision and to operationalize a strategic plan for community-centred climate innovation in alignment with the VPRI’s Strategic Research Plan and SFU’s strategic climate change and sustainability plans. The Director works to develop strategic internal and external relationships and operational processes, including funding opportunities, for the purposes of ensuring program effectiveness and sustainability over time.

Qualifications

Master's Degree in a relevant discipline with ten years of directly related experience; climate change and sustainability research/practice, strategic communications, governmental relations, including senior level experience in administration, program operations, program development and assessment, innovative partnership and finance, program operations, communications and marketing, with an equivalent combination of education, training and practical experience.

  • Excellent knowledge of climate change and sustainability research and/or practice.
  • Experience in leading and/or financing large-scale projects. 
  • Demonstrated leadership in team management and program/project design and delivery.
  • Excellent verbal and written science and policy communications for both a broad and specialized audience.
