We are looking for a Collections Coordinator – Inventory Management

As a Collections Coordinator – Inventory Management, you will be responsible for leading and effectuating the Museum’s collections inventory program, including: the handling, movement, and location control of artifacts in the collection; ensuring proper accession documentation of all artifacts in the inventory; ensuring the proper care and storage of artifacts for the purposes of preservation; and performs other related duties, as assigned.

Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in:

  • The registration of museum artifacts and/or archives
  • The use of automated database systems in a museum, archival, or library setting (eg: KE Emu)
  • The care and handling of museum artifacts and/or archival material.

Knowledge of:

  • General principals and practices of museology;
  • Collections registration and cataloguing systems, practices and standards in a museum and/or archival setting;
  • Museum, archival, or library collection database systems such as KE Emu;
  • Care and handling of museum artifacts and archival material;
  • Preventative conservation measures;
  • Collections storage principles and practices;
  • Workplace safety rules and regulations;
  • Canadian military history and military material culture.

Education: College Diploma in Applied Museum Studies or related field and/or the completion of an accredited apprenticeship, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.

Specific Working Conditions:

  • Knowledge and training in the use of lift truck, and other large industrial moving equipment (scissor lift, boom lift);
  • Ability to lift up to 15 kg;
  • Ability to apply and obtain a Possession and Acquisition License (PAL).

Compensation: $59,723 to $73,910
Status: Temporary ( 3-year term) Full-Time Position (#90375)
Security Level:  Reliability Status
Location: Vimy Place, Ottawa, Ontario
