We are looking for two Financial Analysts 
(streams: corporate accounting and financial planning)

As a Financial Analyst, the incumbent performs financial analysis, reconciliations and ensures financial control and accurate internal and external reporting of all financial data for the Canadian Museum of History (CMH); contributes to the quarterly and annual corporate financial statements including working paper submission review and oversight; establishes budgets in the financial system and maintains the financial system budgetary control; assists in the preparation of the Corporate Plan and Summaries; conducts resource planning exercises and their presentation; provides support and interpretation services as a subject matter expert on financial policies and guidelines, systems and procedural support related to CMH financial operations; provides counsel and advice to CMH employees (at all levels) on many aspects related to the field of finance; and performs other related duties and special projects as directed.

Five years of combined relevant experience in:

  • Financial planning, reporting and budgeting (Experience in a Crown Corporation or Federal Government preferred);
  • Preparation and analysis of financial statements and/or financial reports to senior management;
  • Analysis of business proposals;
  • Development and implementation of financial and administrative control systems;
  • Providing strategic financial advice and recommendations to senior management.

Knowledge of:

  • Financial reporting, administration and management systems, practices and techniques;
  • Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS);
  • Trends, developments and professional standards specific to financial management, corporate accounting, quality assurance, and modern comptrollership;
  • Planning and budget control practices;
  • Plans, estimates, expenses and budgets;
  • Policies, guidelines and requirements related to the field of finance;
  • Financial and other administrative systems, including the budgetary cycle;
  • Best practices in the field of financial planning, budgeting and analysis;
  • Financial analysis techniques such as cost benefit, Net Present Value (NPV), etc;

Education: Degree in accounting, finance, business administration, commerce or related field of study. A recognized Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation would be an asset.

Compensation: NU4 - $ 76,250 to $ 104,451
